- How does Square Enix make enough money to stay in business?

I'm finding it hard to believe that Square Enix's core business model still revolves around video games.
With them taking 5-10 years for each game release these days, how can they possibly be turning a profit from this? They're a big company with a lot of operating costs. Have they branched out into mobile games and pinball machines like Konami? How do they do it? |

They work on more than one thing at once.They don't just work on one game for 4 years and nothing else. That would be stupid. This question is stupid.

They make a lot of games and they are also a publisher and have a rather large output per year. They also publish a decent amount of manga and anime, etc.

They publish games as well as develop them. Relatively speaking they actually release quite a lot of games

If you actually look at their release schedule, they put out TONS of stuff. Just not AAA stuff.

They have their films, anime, figurines, music, concerts, cups, clothing, food items, etc |

FF14 makes them around 8 million a month, assuming 400k active players...thats not too shabby.
On top of that, remember they release tons of games, its just their core jrpgs that take forever, but they also make tomb raider, hitman (until recently) dues ex, many many ds rpgs, all those side FF games like world of and explorers, at least 4 FF mobile games, all the go mobile games and on and on. KH3, FF15, and FF7 are taking forever, but they do release or publish tons of smaller games every year. Looking at wikipedia they released 15 games last year for instance, thats more than one per month.
Just shut the hell up and talk about games, im so tired of the politics of gaming...

They still have a pretty huge, dedicated fanbase who gobble up games and merch by the truck load. Plenty of people don't mind wasting $$$ on subscription games.
I don't bother keeping track of companies financial status, but I don't think Squeenix was ever really hurting for money.
Love conquers everything ... except knives, swords, axes, guns, spears, fists, rocks, strong gusts of wind, and/or dangerous wild animals.

How about reading one of their finicial reports. There's not a whole lot of blogging or handholding in them. Hopefully the facts don't bother you too badly.
It's geeks who really make or break a TV show or movie or videogame.
