While it's gotten good reception and is a decent game, it seems like everyone is forgetting it's a niche title. The pacing and style of game doesn't have a chance to be GOTY, imo.  And if you think it stands against Zelda or HZD, whether you think they're overrated or not, is some very blinding bias. quote

It's all been word of mouth. it baffles me how people gets 'creamed' in persona 5 lol ,might even be the easiest persona to date. there's only that part at the end on he 24th when it goes on and on and on for quite a long time that seems a bit less casual @JM_14_GOW its a good entry point as the game mechanics have been simplified and difficulty has been greatly reduced to please a wider audience. What the older games did have was more quality of life issues and inconveniences at the gameplay level that artificially drove the difficulty. And don't get me started on older SMT. Being "game of the year" has nothing to do with if it's niche or not - I'm sure Undertale won a lot of various awards including at least one game of the year award, but it's still a niche title. Pokemon, I'll admit, I have no idea what it is. It seems to have wide appeal given how popular Pokemon Go was along with each subsequent game release, but at the same time I'm pretty sure Pokemon Go has a lot less players now that the initial hype has died down showing at least that aspect of it to be more of a fad than a long-lasting appeal. Game sales are still extremely good, though, so I don't think that's niche. Again, this is all just my assessment of it. Agree to disagree if you want - I'm just theorizing here.
