I have a feeling alot of ppl over time will experience n2ds xl faults and nintendo may have alot of complaints, its early days but Im expecting more of these reports.
Anyway 2 days ago my friend got a n2ds xl, after 1 day it stopped reading any games, like none at all. Would insert the cart the logo would appear for 2 secs then disappear as if the cartridge was not inserted. Randomly he could play the game but 10 secs later when running the game would get the error please insert the game cartridge as it was removed, obvioudly it wasnt it was inserted. After hours of troubleshooting it he figured out what the problem was. Theres a small metal panel at the base that holds the cartridge, it bent slightly What he found was the 2ds xl has that stupid cover that you have to pull out and in so that you can open that bay to insert the cartridge in, anyway when you open that bay it has 2 small plastic hinges that hold it in place with the console. If you open it and look directly at it you can notice the hinges move UP slighly and there is this small metal thin bar at the base, it pushes up slightly, it seems after a few times opening the bay it has pushed it up to move it up a tad. We confirmed this by leaving the bay open and putting your thumb on the cartridge to hold it in place, if you hold it in the game works fine but the second you move the thumb the metal thin bar moves up and you get the error that the cartridge was removed. He even put a ball of piece of paper under the cartridge to the metal bar and the game worked fine because it was putting pressure pushing the metal bar down. Terrible terrible design flaw by nintendo Im telling ppl to avoid the n2ds xl this seems like ok itll work in some consoles early on but in the long run that metal bar is going to bend, be warned all hope it helps those who are thinking about buying it

You typed all that and can't be bothered to type people out fully?
Also sounds more like your friend just wasn't handling his system with care. It's very unlikely the system would have that kind of damage after a single day of usage if he took any sort of care of it. This is the first I have heard of this. Pretty silly to tell people to avoid a system based on a single friend having problems espeically of this sort. This isn't like a baked in disaster like the red ring of death. You are overreacting a bit I think.

Look TC, I know you want the 3DS/2DS to die out, but blaming Nintendo on your friend doesn't take care of his/her stuff is just immature.
Anyway, that flap also keeps dust out, as well as prevents the game from popping out accidentally. And that's a good thing.
