This gen includes Wii U. I would say not yet but getting there. I have a feeling Metroid Prime might be there.
So far Bloodborne is still game of the gen with MGS5 closely behind

Mario odssey can easily be in peoples top 3 of this year or hell even this gen. Wouldn't be my top 1 but it should be acknowledged for it. And zelda too, while i feel like its a poor mans HZD is still a great game in its own right.
Imo ps4 still has it thanks to things like nier automata (my personal favorite game of this gen so far) |

For me yes. I thought HZD looked like it would be good, but it turned out to be a chintzy wannabe Zelda, and I am not into JRPG's.
So, between Mario, Zelda, Splatoon 2 and a bunch of others, I think Nintendo had the best software in 2017.

Switch has had a good run so far. It’s only 9 months old. But the other systems have been out for 4 years so there’s a lot of good games out there.

Definitely not yet.
So far all my favorite games in Switch are also available to me on PC and PS4. Once we get killer console exclusives like Travis Strikes Again, and Bayonetta 3, that's when it'll stand up to other console exclusives like The Last Guardian. Honestly though...I'm not hoping the Switch has "better" games...I'm hoping it has awesome portable versions of games I want to play. Resident Evil Revelations on Switch is easily the difinitive version of this game...offering the exact same specs as PS4 and more content than any other version...at a better price and with all the DLC included in the base product. Plus it's portable again! This is what I want from all my Switch multiplat games. |

I have a PS4 and a Switch, I love them both to be honest. I prefer JRPG's but play a bit of everything. Xenoblade 2 has been a lot of fun, have been playing that and Splatoon 2 pretty often. That being said, I had the most fun with Persona 5 this gen so far.
I can't say Xenoblade is my top game this year, bit it is pretty close.... Haven't finished it yet, so maybe it will be by the time I am done. |

Hmm I struggle to rate stuff higher than Witcher 3 (on PC).
However Xenoblade 2 is my favourite console game for a long, long while. Switch has best exclusives. Only PS4 game I've enjoyed much is Persona 5.

Odyssey so far. Not impressed by much this gen, but it’s still better than the last one. Played barely anything last gen; basically just used PS3 as a Blu-ray player, 360 as a media center, and Wii as a bookend

Switch is catching up, but my PS4 is still my baby. And I don’t foresee that changing simply cuz of MH World.
But yeah I’ve been playing my Switch way more than PS4 for like two months now. First I got Odyssey, then Xenoblade, then Mario + Rabbids, and it’s all been such a blast. Switch really pulled it together at the end of 2017.

I don't know if anything will ever top Bloodborne this gen for me. Everything in that game is amazing. (well almost everything the Chalice dungeons just get super boring and it sucks because the boss at the very end of all of it is great but getting to that boss is so boring) The way the story is told, the combat and characters and all the little details that From Software put everywhere and how they all come together are so good.
I almost don't want a Bloodborne 2 because I'm afraid it won't be as amazing. It's a weird feeling to have. I feel that Bloodborne is perfect and I don't know they can get that perfection again.

I def think Switch has some really awesome games coming and while I might not be a huge indie person I still liked Zelda and Xenoblade and am going to try fire emblem warriors which I expect to be just fun enough to put some hours into and Mario Odyssey which I don’t really expect to like cause it’s not my cup of tea but I might be surprised. Right now might be Persona 5 for me I think SMT5,dragon quest 11 or trails of cold steel 3 could end up being the winner for me.

Not for me. Zelda is great and i like exploration but its combat and really poor story drags it down. I think Horizon is simply better game. Mario is very fun but its also rather short. Hunting for moons does add more replay value but after 15 hours or so i was bored. FE Warriors is just bad buy i regret getting it.
Those are only games i bought for Switch though so maybe i missed out on other stuff. I do have MK7 on 3DS so im not bothering with 8.

game wise it probably has most play time system wise on it of games
best games their has been in while for 2017...
(huh xbox kinda died of game wise... ps4 been kinda let down)
before you go oh your wrong... base it of content in game /how fun i think it is /how much play time i can get out of it (story and content big parts if its dull or boring or just like must a predictable story with overused plays odds are i might not play it agien unless it has a ton of content)
as for content from anything as simple filler content were you have to level up a item to actually having a ton of secrets and easter eggs and items to collect (sometimes both)
so example disgaea games tend to have a lot of content between collecting and leveling up items (ignoring perfecting them)
for dull story/slightly predictable example destiny 2 (questions if they had legit writers that even tried to make it interesting "story wise")trolling

In my eyes console needs RPGs to compete, the Switch has only a single real high profile RPG in Xenoblade 2, and while I think it's good, I'd prefer something with a more traditional battle system.
The future is looking bright with games like SMT5, Octopath Traveler, Fire Emblem Switch and Pokemon Switch on the horizon though. i have Odyssey, uncharted 4, AC: Origins, Destiny 1 & 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Splatoon 1 & 2, Bloodborne, Mario Maker, Super Mario 3D World, Bayo 1 & 2, Mario Kart 8, GTA 5 etc.
I'd rather play Zelda than all of those.

On another note I'm not sure I'd put Odyssey on my top 10 games this gen, but it's certainly worth a play.
Bayonetta 1 was fun, i didnt play 2. I was noping at the notion that The Witcher 3 and P5 were "padding".
The Witcher 3 is legit the best open world this gen.
I like Witcher 3 but its open world is just pretty environments with some monsters mixed in. It's not thoughtfully sculpted the way BotW's is. Also a case can be made for Xenoblade X though part of that is just the joy of traversing it by foot before realizing the skells change everything.thank you for reading my post

I'll admit, the Switch has probably had the strongest launch/first year library of any console I can recall. I say probably because there's always the possibility another console did even better in the same period of time, but I can't think of it. Maybe PS2?
I say this as a guy that leans more towards PC and Playstation. Only because the games I enjoy happen to be on those platforms currently, and not because I dislike Nintendo games or consoles.
