- Am I the only one think Pokemon Sun and Moon are terrible?
I mean it must be the worst main pokemon game ever.
I always finish every Pokemon game twice, every gen, even gen 6 but I can't bring myself replay Pokemon Sun and Moon again. The Pokemon is look ridiculous (have you seen that fish) or look boring (yeah, most Alolan Pokemon are just recolor of Kanto Pokemon and some are just tucan). Every thing is a f***ing slug in this game with many good look Pokemon with s*** tier speed (And two of them are stater as well). They also mess up some of them (Like Kadraba can't learn Confusion or Marowak can't learn Shadow Bone without Move Relearner in the f***ing E4 Pokemon Center). The Z-move are just stupid because they take item slot and can only used once for a fancy move with an ridiculous unskipableanimation. Oh and the story, it is nightmare for replay because you already know all of it but no, you can't skip it, they not even let you hold A to continue and so I have see that ridiculous plot for another time. Other game have unskipable plot too but they don't take that goddam long and they don't do it everywhere you go. I swear if it wasn't a Pokemon game I wouldn't even try to finish the first run. I just want to see if there is any redeemtion for it in the end but I don't think I had found one. The only good thing I see are no HM so yay to that.

I thought they were pretty good. The main thing I didn't like was that I chose to use Crabrawler and Grubbin and they couldn't fully evolve until WAY late game. But that was mainly my fault for not doing research first.
Z-Moves are pretty bad though. I don't think I ever used one to be honest. And I didn't like that it always showed you where to go on the map instead of letting you figure it out yourself... which in turn resulted in no real exploration. But I enjoyed the trials in place of gyms and the replacement of HMs with the ride pager was great. I actually got my first game over in a Pokemon game too with the jungle trial. That damn Lurantis and Castform combo haha.

Most of trial make you fight a single wild Pokemon repeatedly before you can reach the Totem Pokemon and most trial are just boring (Swim to the bubble to kill a sardine? Kill the rat to process? Very exciting.)

I think that's why I liked Colosseum and XD so much too.

It wasn't too good, but I gotta admit it was a nice change of pace from the usual "beat 8 gym leaders, beat elite 4, etc" formula we had for the past 6 generations, even if it was similar. I wouldn't mind doing trials again as long as Game Freak gave them more lore and a much more interesting challenge then as you said, "swimming to a bubble and killing the sardine."
I have a love/hate relationship with this place.

1. There's a massive lack of end-game content (nothing new, it's Pokemon).
2. The story pacing is awful; it's especially bad since you can't skip the lengthy cutscenes. 3. The online features are obtuse as hell. A million games in and you can't set stakes or clauses. 4. Generic z-moves are ok but the Pokemon-specific ones are a huge waste of resources. 5. They failed to expand on Mega-evolutions. This is like introducing abilities but then giving up on adding them. 6. Difficulty is nowhere to be seen (again, nothing new). This could be easily remedied at low cost. 7. The story is pretty interesting for a Pokemon game. Dialing back the scope and focusing on characters is a good move. 8. The presentation is solid (barring performance issues) and the setting is a good diversion. 9. Regional variants were a great idea. They need to keep this one going and expand it to later gen Pokemon. 10. The trial challenges were complete trash. 11. Totem battles are really, really cool. There's a lot of potential here (that they're going to squander). 12. "End-game" continues to amount to little more than bike simulator. They need to remove IVs.
Instead of getting offended you should instead become excited about having been afforded the opportunity to learn.

The games are pretty bad. I had to force myself to beat my copy of Moon and I haven't touched it since. There are just so many poorly thought out ideas or too many instances where the game is just straight up half assed. The new Pokemon (if you can find them) are cool, no HMs is a good change... And that's kind of it for positives. Everything else is either mediocre or terrible. Characters? Awful. Story? Stupid. Trials? Boring and bland. Music? Mostly bad. Regional Pokedex? Really f***ing bad. Alola forms? Underwhelming. Region? Bland and boring. Very forgettable. Exploration? Pretty much non-existent. Pretty much everything is just not really enjoyable. Definitely my least favorite mainline Pokemon game and one of the worst games I've played in some time.

These games are uninteresting because of how identical (and slow-paced) they still are at core to the previous entries. The only title I truly had blast with was the original, when I was a wee kid --- that software was all around fresh, and only slightly derivative mechanically of some games I never played (Megami Tensei).
Obviously, we have a similar situation now with SMT Nocturne VS 4, where 4 is virtually identical to Nocturne, albeit with LOWER artistic values. Geez, talk about standing on the shoulders of giants.

Those games are what brought me back into the groove with the series. Sure, there are noticeable flaws, but I still very well enjoyed them.
Heck, even if they were the worst games in the series, I'd much rather play those over Diamond/Pearl.
Still waiting for a good Mario Tennis and Paper Mario RPG, Camelot and Intelligent Systems

No, and I'm afraid that ultra sun and ultra moon will be worse. There are a couple of nice ideas. Finally some plot, love the concept of regional variants and most of the new pokemon looks pretty good compared to some other generations. Still, the story was written in a very poor way (not to mention that it was quite childish), the new dynamics like z-moves were a step back and certain pokemon are just horrible (did you saw the alolan dugtrio? Were they drunk when they thought about it?)

SegavsCapcom posted......Pokemon just can't do anything right, can they? They really aren't though. The last two generations have done wonders for online play and ease of access to the meta-game. Also they have introduced some pretty great mechanics and Pokemon. To be perfectly honest, the bottom of the barrel for actual quality is Gen 1 (but I personally believe that's part of what made it so great.) Gen 6 and 7 are great if you love the actual concept of Pokemon which is to trade and battle with players all over the world. As for story, gen 7 has the most actual story content but now people complain about cutscenes. The battle tower was great when there wasn't such an easy way to access battling other people online in Gen 6 and 7. Festival plaza is kinda meh though. There is really no honest way to say they are going down in quality when there is so much to provide towards the contrary. Also I don't care much for Sun and Moon. I'm just not silly.

I actually liked the game for what it is, but it does have some issues. I hope nintendo fixes some of the complaints but who knows if they will, it is Nintendo. Overall I will probably play it again eventually, and I will buy the next games, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

strike one: The inability to skip cutscenes, waiting a half hour "play time" (the intro cut scenes and redundant button press/direction movement) before being able to begin leveling. strike two: The Tomagotchi-like element incorporated into the game; This is filler ought to have been implemented into the poke day care center or a barn of your own, ala Monster Rancher. Nothing but the tedium of scrubbing at the lower 3ds screen and wasting precious time one could be leveling, storyline progressing and/or online battle/trade. Otherwise, I am enjoying Pokemon Moon and putting a lot of time into trading & building that custom team to level & progress or just battling. Verdict: still well playable and fun.

It never about trade and battle with everyone, it is only part of the gameplay and it was first make to play with friend instead of for competitive against other people. Pokemon is about adventure and exploration, and what gen 7 give us was a fully written map with marker on it. And we never ask for longer plot, we ask for better plot, not 20 minutes of cutscene zooming on my idiotic avatar face. And battling online is different to battle tower because everyone play for win, not for fun and some of us just want have fun instead.

Nope. I found them unbearable until I discovered a fan mod that made them good.
Of the ppokemon games I hate I would say S/M is better than B/W but worse than X/Y. Sun and moon does online worse than X/Y and took out some cool features from AS/OR. Also wtf is up with that s***ty Rotom dex and the way you access the world map.

It was created in the concept of but collecting and the fun the creator had with it including interaction with others. Interaction with others means trading and battling with others; so you've only been playing it one third correctly if you want to go about it like that. Also there was no online in Gen 3. Stop being obtuse. Edit: oh and how many games can you catch them all with one system and game?

You really believe that is the reason they make two versions? No one I had ever talk to like trading for evolution or for other version Pokemon, it more troublesome than it worth. And battle are only fun if you win, losing suck and so everyone and they mother start using Ubermon everywhere. Pokemon is a serious broken meta game I had ever see in any game, where one build is so strong it can overpower everything and you see nothing but those same Pokemon everywhere. Story mode and battle tower are the only reason I still keep playing this game and I am sure I don't need the other "two third" of the game.

This is the real problem is that you won't embrace what Pokemon actually is and then complain there isn't enough content. Battle Tower was great, but I doubt I'd use it that much with it being so much easier to have actual competitions with Global Link and Battle Spot. Maybe you should play Digimon Cyber Sluth instead?

I mean it must be the worst main pokemon game ever. Black/White. Your opinion on all things are invalid. No, seriously. Sun/Moon is an improvement over B/W (Worst game of all time contender.) and X/Y. It still being a bad game just goes to show how far Pokémon has fallen. And a lot of the problems with Sun/Moon are s*** it inherited from B/W and X/Y like hidden abilities, the cancerous EXP system, Mega Salamence and Mega Metagross, and of course, the f***ing godawful Fifth and Sixth Generation pokémon. Those things are a permanent stain on the franchise. Sun/Moon gave us good pokémon designs again. The Tapus (sans Bulu), the Ultra Beasts, Cosmog. Of course, it's also plagued with abominations like Primarina, Crabominable, lolsand castles..... eh, at least it didn't give us f***ing ice cream pokémon.

The game honestly really is a miss step.
When it first came out I get what fans saw in it "Look at all this New stuff. we're getting Totem Trials, We're getting Alola Forms, We're getting Z-Crystals, We're getting PokePelago!" But then one question hit the game like a train wreck "Why did we need to remove any of the old stuff?". Yeah we're getting Totem Trials but did we need to remove Gym's because it seems like we really could've had both quite easily? Yeah we got Z-Crystals but did we really need to get rid of Mega's? No, not really. Z-Crystal's are just a really lazy replacement that take away from the individual Pokemon design in favour of a one-shot move that does nothing besides an over the top animation. Yeah we got PokePelago but did we need to lose PSS? No, no we did not. Yeah we got SOS battles, but could we not have had Horde Battles or at the very least DexNav instead? We got a lot of new but we didn't get anything more or better. Then there was the exclusivity which in Sun and Moon is more toxic than any other generation. Like, it wasn't enough that Pokemon were exclusive to each games but why the f*** would you make clothes and trial captain battles version exclusive?

I've played and beat every main titled one since I was a kid and I thought they were the worst. Still decent, still Pokemon but they made some really weird and unnecessary changes and that killed it for me. Change can be good when needed but changing things for the sake of change is stupid and rarely amounts to something better. Sun/Moon honestly was the first set of games by them I had to trudge through as they irritated me that much. Also, one thing particularly I realized playing them is why they never attempted to do any sort of Orange Islands concept game from the anime. The island s*** is better off as a side activity in a game ala' Battle Frontier style or something, definitely not something you'd build a game around like they did here.

Uh, what's this mess about Kadabra not learning Confusion? It was a glitch that affected several Pokemon, not just Kadabra. Basically, some Pokemon could learn 2 moves when they evolve, but the game would only give you 1 of them. In Kadabra's case, the game would give you Kinesis and skip Confusion, meaning you don't have any attack moves until level 21 when it learns Psybeam. This issue was fixed in the first update.

Still an enjoyable game though, just because I enjoy Pokemon, but the "new" features didn't exactly do it for me. |
Nope, I'm with you. Felt shallow, lag issues, new Pokémon were a mixed bag, trials were a cool idea but too easy in practice, and the post game was garbage. No Battle Frontier and few side modes also was a major bummer.
Definitely falls along XY as one of the lower ranking games in the series.

Maybe because trials ended up being boring and worse than gyms? People were excited since it looked like GameFreak was trying again after a lackluster and underwhelming gen 6 and years of only minor tweaks to the formula. But GameFreak dropped the ball with trials and just about everything else in the game so people are understandably disappointed.FC: 5112-4220-0277- Boards
