slight off topic
GunplaGamer Is there any truth in this? Isn't fusion mode the hard mode? or something harder?

slight off topicGunplaGamer At a preview event for Metroid: Samus Returns, Nintendo finally clarified amiibo support for the game, especially with regards to how Hard Mode will work in the game. As it turns out, this probably was a case where better communication could have cleared up the whole problem. http://www.usgamer.net/articles/nintendo-addresses-the-metroid-samus-returns-amiibo-controversy Here's the lowdown of what Nintendo told USgamer. When I asked Nintendo representatives at the preview event if hard mode was locked behind amiibos, they were clear to make the distinction. "Fusion Mode," they corrected me. Yes, Fusion Mode—which will give players access to Samus' Fusion Suit as well as a more challenging difficulty in the game—is indeed locked behind the Metroid amiibo. This content will not be offered as a separate DLC in Nintendo's digital eShop. However, there will be a standard hard mode that will be unlockable once players complete the game on regular difficulty. This mode, which is confusingly separate from the Fusion Mode's harder difficulty, is said to be harder than the standard difficulty but not as hard as that found in Fusion Mode.
Now Playing: Dragon Quest VI (DS), Darksiders: Warmastered (Wii U), Etrian Odyssey Untold, Splatoon 2

GameXplain just put up a video confirming Fusion Mode is even more difficult than the Hard Mode available to all buyers. It'll probably be along the lines of the damage increase that the Ganondorf amiibo provided to Twilight Princess HD. Sucks, I actually wouldn't mind paying for that (especially now that they clarified traditional Hard Mode is still in the base game) as a little bonus, but I can't since it's sold out, and Nintendo didn't bother to reveal the amiibo functionality until after that fact. Solid Sonic posted... I suppose using Metroid Prime 2 art instead of Samus Returns art on your 3DS to promote Samus Returns is fine... >_> They're technically using the Samus Returns version of the art: (which is of course, an obvious homage to the MP2 art)

The back being yellow makes it kind of ugly, even though it fits the theme. Also since they haven't dropped the price of the New 3ds XL yet it's $200 and it's stupid to pay that much for any 3ds in this day an age. You can get the new 2ds XL for $150 or a used New 3ds XL for around $100. I'm not going to pay double the price for a paint job.

Will this version be rare and scalped? Hard to say- it's been up since yesterday and hasn't gone out of stock yet. It may be that people are waiting to see if it comes to other retailers, or it might just be a situation where it sits there for weeks and then gets nuts as we get closer to launch. Or maybe it won't sell well at all! ¯\_(6_9)_/¯

I like games and anime. My favorite games include the following: Mother 1-3, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Cross, Zelda LA-ALttP-OoT-MM-ALBW, and Super Smash Bros.

Ordered my SE Metroid N3DSXL last night though I wish I could have done in store pick-up but w/ limited copies for stores I doubt I could go to my usual Gamestop and order it though a few employees know me well and that I am a Metroid fan.

Yes. That would be a nice upgrade for you.
I dunno. Still no N3DS exclusives I want or need.

I don't use the 3D either. Doesn't mean the feature wasn't improved.
Regardless, if you haven't felt the need to upgrade thus far; I'd say you're safe unless you're a hardcore Metroid fan and love the design.TheDreadedZero posted...SeamusOHassey posted...

No. Have you looked at the pictures? It's orange, not red, and the bottom half of the system is a gold/yellow.

The colors seems very eye-catching. I am falling for the color. I wish the inside is not black.
I still have the old 3DSXL. I have been wanting to upgrade but none of the versions/colors caught my eyes. I actually hoping to see a Dragon Quest edition when DQ VII & VIII came out. I guess Nintendo did not think about it.Best Buy has it up:
