Your ports of games that have already been out for either a little amount of time or significant amount of time on other systems.
I dunno about all of you but I'd much prefer devs making games unique to the switch. Instead of getting late scraps that I've already played on other consoles. |

Don't own a Switch yet, and Nintendo really isn't doing a good job of enticing me to buy one tbqh.
It's cool for people who only buy Nintendo consoles or really value portability, I guess...? If you don't fall into one of those groups I'm not sure why you'd be excited.

Nobody here is stupid enough to buy a more expensive downgraded of a readily available and cheap game... It's just "muh hype"... I sincerely hope that's the case.

I've been busy playing new non-port games like Zelda, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids, Blaster Master Zero, etc. That being said, I will be picking up Pokken and DOOM since I sold my Wii U Pokken and I have never played DOOM. Provided it runs well, I'll buy it on Switch over PC for portability.
Play games, not companies.

They need to make these games release as the same time as other consoles if possible but man DOOM portable is amazing. That's the only third party game I was hoping for and we got it! Let's just hope it isn't $60 >_>

Do people just not get how portables work at all? I rebought Mario 64 on DS cause playing it on the go was a dream come true. I rebought Link to the Past on GBA too. Also handhelds before didn't even get current gen games until now, the fact that Switch is is pretty amazing on its own.
Playing Doom, a game so constantly fun, literally anywhere, would be the f***ing best. And obviously I'd prefer new games, but games aren't made in a minute. It's entirely possible they're already working on new games for it and haven't announced them yet; you know, because the console has only been out for a bare 6 months, only proved it could sell recently, and no game gets close to being made in that time. Currently, I'm extremely happy my little handheld is getting current gen ports. What I wasn't happy with was the PS4 only getting last gen ports for a while. Unlike Switch, that didn't have the portability factor, just a 'this looks slightly prettier so buy it again'. Now that's a purchase not worth it.

I'm glad you're a multi-console gamer. Truth is I'd probably buy most of my multi-platform games on PS4. But some don't have that luxury so to them it doesn't matter if the game is released late. It just matters that the game is released at all.
The right trusts a book written over 1000 years ago but needs meticulous proof of climate change.

The last line kinda shows me that the first line (the question you asked) is beyond your grasp more than it is that of others. There's a reason portables typically didn't get current gen home console ports. And there's a reason why all the ports you listed that were of previous gen home console games, while selling well enough in and of themselves, failed to sell as well as portable skewing originals. But, then again, Switch isn't a portable. Unless it is. The position on that always changes. |

I have yet to buy any ports, I bought the Nintendo system for Nintendo games like always.
That said, I would actually love to have a portable DOOM, but unless it gets a Steam-quality sale then I'll still stick to PC.

Why not both?
Adding portability to something is a pretty big deal. I played plenty of Skyrim, but getting to play it on the go is reason enough to pick it up again. Doom I never actually got around to, but being able to pop that in on my lunch break at work? Sign me up. And then we get stuff like Project Octopath Traveler, a gorgeous and interesting new RPG from Square with some really cool mechanics. Plenty of great indie titles. Some of which are new and exclusive. And of course some solid first party support.

The ports don't bother me. Can't blame companies for playing it safe after the Wii U. Wish Nintendo had some more original stuff to show, but they're doing a decent job this first year.
DOOM is a major win. Nintendo needs something to fit into that shooter niche and I think it's great that they are getting one of the more hardcore shooters in recent memory.

I don't have a problem with them especially when it comes to western publishers like Bethesda. I doubt many of us were really expecting anything from them, let alone current-gen stuff like Doom and Wolfenstein II.
Then you have the late ports from Ubisoft, but at least they're putting out original titles too. Kingdom Battle is a pretty standout effort imo. EA/2K are at least releasing their Switch ports along with the other versions. It's others like Capcom that I was expecting more from.
There's a mystery to be uncovered here, that's for sure. And I get the feeling the truth is beyond my wildest imagination.

Capcom should release a remastered collection of Resident Evil or Devil May Cry, and maybe a Mega Man or Dead Rising game exclusive to the Switch.
