Nothing is wrong with wanting to use a controller but stating the motion controls are terrible is flat out wrong. The prime series got overwhelmingly positive praise for how they handled motion controls. They allowed you to aim more accurately and actually speed up the pace of the game, difference was you had to actually aim. The lock on button didn't do all the work for you anymore. Just because you do not like them, or you are unable to use them well doesn't make them garbage

Played both the gamecube versions and the Prime Trilogy on Wii, the motion controls were a considerable improvement, and I usually dislike gimmicks. The only real complaint I had was the removal of sequence break glitches

This topic just screams failure. Next up, TC tries to go on the PC forum to tell people playing Starcraft with a mouse and keyboard is a "garbage gimmick". Controller or bust!

nbean16 posted...Prime 3 with motion controls was by far the best game in the serious. Your taste in games sucks ass. You're not actually trying to use your entire arm to aim with the wii mote, are you? Use your wrist for aiming, not your entire freaking arm like a moron. This is probably why many people hate motion controls, they think using the strength of their entire arm is the correct way to aim. Of course your arm is going to get tired if you idiotically use the entire core strength of your arms. It's literally almost the same as using a mouse, by moving your wrist. Your wrist is the support that guides your arm through the motions. I can rest my elbow on a arm rest while aiming with motion controls. If you aren't doing that, then that's why you hate motion controls, because you can't do it properly. You're flailing your arms in the air like a crazy person, as you said. |

1) The game uses barely any motion controls and what is there is hardly worth mentioning here.
2) The pointer controls are excellent and I believe it is a tragedy that they have been removed from console gaming. I finally found a solution to the mouse/keyboard issue that dual analog failed to fix (too slow and clunky) and now it is gone and all we are left with is the waggle that I despise so very, very much. 3) Your loss on missing out on the Prime Trilogy with pointer controls. The games are sincerely made better for having them. To each their own, however.

It really didn’t take long for TC to show exactly why they made this topic. All they care about is attacking people who actually played MPT and know how motion controls work. Any time someone screams about waving your arms around with motion controls it becomes obvious they haven’t used them. You literally just move your wrist.

First of all, gyro and pointer aren’t the same thing. MPT isn’t even a Motion Plus game for fucks sake. Second, they work just fine in Captain Toad.

I can't take anyone seriously with their drive-by posts by saying motion controls suck without giving a reason. It's fine to hate them, but please stop being ignorant about how Prime Trilogy's motion controls work. You don't flail your arms, you use your wrist.
If you say motion controls that require to use your wrist sucks, doesn't that mean you hate mouse controls on PC? You're using your wrist in both scenarios. You're aiming the mouse cursor with your wrist just like you're aiming the cursor with the wii mote. The only difference is that the Wii Mote gives people the wrong idea of how to use it, and that really annoys me. In fact, this was the first thing I did when I picked up a Wii Mote for the first time, so I just don't understand why other people aren't capable of doing the same thing. |
Theres a big difference between IR pointer and motion controls.
Needless to say Prime 3 did have its arm flailing moments like using the grappling hook on shielded enemies or something.
