Now that our dollar is getting stronger, lets see how long it takes for the ps4 games to come down in price.
At this exchange rate, they should be down to 74.99 from 79.99. any bets? months? or weeks? |

Considering the USD is in oversold territory it wouldn't make any sense at all to adjust the prices now and then to just re-adjust them in a month should the USD normalize.
Majority of target estimates expect USD to be bac to 1.30 by October, which is $77.99. I would say they'd only reduce the price once the equivalent is in the 65 territory and they'll reduce it to 74.99. It'll happen eventually, these things always fluctuate over time, just like the USD will be 1.40 again someday, but adjusting it too early would force them to re-adjust it back again in months, which doesn't help anyone. |

They were saying for the past couple years a 0.50 dollar was coming. never happened or even came close. keep in mind, places have no problem jacking the price up almost immediately and don't worry about the dollars strengthening and being forced to drop it

In Janurary 2016 the exchange rate was below $0.69, which suggests $87 games in Canada. Prices didn't go up then, and I'm sure you weren't here calling for prices to go up, so it seems hypocritical to expect prices to change in the opposite direction instantly.

Probably months, I remember people had to complain for months if not years for prices to come down when we had reach parity. They finally did it begrudgingly, but of course when it went the other way they were quick to pull the triggers.
They will probably wait to see if our dollar remain stable. Personally I would like it if we were always charge in US dollar so the conversion would always be accurate. |

There was a while when the Canadian dollar was worth more than the American dollar for several months, and it took that whole several months for prices to adjust, then the American dollae went back up, and game prices went back up INSTANTLY. |

Personally I would like it if we were always charge in US dollar so the conversion would always be accurate. I wouldn't. There are plenty of times we have had a weak dollar for extended periods of time without the prices inflating with it, so overall, we probably get the better deal. |

Just in January most people were calling for a 0.67 dollar in the summer, and one person said it would strengthen. i just don't trust the currency forecasters. |

I think they'll be stuck at $79.99 for quite a while. Games are still selling at that absurd price, so why should retailers lower it?

I'm no expert in this but I do recall hearing prices going down takes a snails pace to happen compared to it getting higher.

GF is known for over-stating the currency impact in Canada. They can be getting a better deal up there for years compared to US buyers, but the day it goes the other direction they start whining about how unfair it is.

I don't expect the prices to come down any time soon. Prices got jacked up to $80 and games are still coming off the shelves, so retailers don't have a ton of incentive to bring it back down to $60.
I'd honestly not be surprised if the prices never come down. Even if we hit par for over 6 months. The only way it comes down is if Canadian retailers start loosing too much business.

People have been busy buying games here at their current prices ever since the hike....from their point of view, why would they wanna lower it? We're already paying the higher price. |

I really hope they drop them ASAP. This whole price hike thi9ng has been driving me nuts for the past 3 years.
Love conquers everything ... except knives, swords, axes, guns, spears, fists, rocks, strong gusts of wind, and/or dangerous wild animals.

2 months ago the exchange rate was high enough that games were cheaper in Canada, before any taxes.
This is nothing new that sellers take advatage of consumers like this, just look at the oil industry.
The fact there is a Highway to Hell, and only a Stairway to Heaven, says a lot about the anticipated numbers.

Well yeah, the original price hike was because of the difference in the dollar. When the loonie went south, the price went north.
I'm just hoping that if our loonie gains enough strength back that they'll adjust pricing accordingly. I just wouldn't be surprised if they take the, "well, you're already paying it so we'll just leave it there" route. Truly hope not. |

The price hike and No Man's Sky stopped me from buying games day 1. If I do buy it fairly new I get it on the PS store. $79.99 all in instead of $90.39 (13% tax).

It'll drop when and if the loonie is guaranteed to stay where it is or get better. It's growth has been way too sharp to be trustworthy imo. A weakening greenback just means this is a temporary high for CAD.

Alberta doesn't have PST. It's the only province to not have some sort of provincial tax, aside from the northern territories (Yukon, NWT, Nunavut). So it's actually Alberta that is not status quo. BC is 5% GST and 7% PST. That works out to $89.59 for a full price game.

Not the strength of your dollar. no lol everything here is adjusted to the strenght of our dollars compared to us dollar. the thing is, great economy here doesnt always mean that our dollar is strong. a weak dollar is good to sell stuff to europe and us. it makes peopel works. a strong dollar mean the stuff we buy here is cheaper since most of the stuff gets reajusted (like cars, electronics and more) but company from here are having more trouble with exportations. I pretty much knows it, I was buying, selling and setting prices on stuff in my company at my work thats what its like living just below US
