A lot of those "Clickbait videos" he does are clickbait style he pretty much originated that have become generic now because everyone copies him. And he is good looking. He quit his job to do full time Youtube videos, making 2 edited videos a day at a time where there was no money in doing that. He also popularized (I don't want to say invented because then some smart-ass will yell at me) the whole face-cam in corner, playing Horror games and crazy overracting thing that became immensely popular He was also really good at developing and managing a community so his fanbase grew. Like his content or not, anyone who denies how hard he worked to achieve what he has is at best ignorant and at worst jealous. He saw the writing on the wall when no one else did and put his life and livelihood on the line to achieve it. Then everyone copied him. I'm not a fan of his videos, they're too stupid and screamy to me. But it's silly to hate on him. I was SCREAMING like a banshee when Smash for Switch was announced.
