Nintendo 3DS Price and release date?
Nintendo has stated that the Nintendo 3DS will be released on March 27th, 2011 in US and will release on February 26, 2011 in Japan. The retail price for the US is $249.99. ¥25,000 in Japan as far as I know. Nintendo 3DS software/games pricing. I haven't read anything about the software prices yet for NA. I'm sure the price will vary depending on the title. As for Japan I've read that Nintendo has priced the Nintendo 3DS titles/software ranging from 4,800 yen ($57) to 6,090 yen ($73). What will be included with the 3DS packaging? -Quick Start Guide -Nintendo 3DS Operations Manual -Parental Controls Leaflet -Nintendo 3DS stylus -Nintendo 3DS charging cradle -Nintendo 3DS AC adapter -SD Memory Card (2 GB) -Six AR [Augmented Reality ] Cards What software comes with the 3DS out of the box? Nintendo has included pre-installed software that will be in every Nintendo 3DS. The software that releases with the 3DS are: -Activity Log -Nintendo 3DS Camera -StreetPass Mii Plaza -Nintendo 3DS Sound -AR [Augmented Reality] Games -Mii Maker -Face Raiders What are the specifications [specs] for the Nintendo 3DS? - Size: 5.27 in. length, 2.91 in width, 0.82in depth - Weight: 8.11 oz. - Top screen is 3.53 in, widescreen and displays stereoscopic images without the need for glasses. 800×240 (400 pixels per eye) resolution. - Bottom screen/Touch Screen is 3.02 320×240 pixels resolution. - Camera - One above the top screen facing toward the player for 2D photo and video capture, two on the outside for 3D photo and video capture. 640×480 (0.3 megapixel) resolution each - Wireless LAN supports WPA/WPA2 security keys and connection to wireless access points. What is "StreetPass" and "SpotPass"?
-SpotPass allows the 3DS to detect wireless access points or hotspots. Basically this allows the 3DS to a automatically update when you are in Nintendo hotspots or a wireless LAN is detected. -StreePass also uses wireless technology to exchange information with gamers you pass [walk pass or are near?]. These modes are always on, but doesn't drain your battery while in sleep mode. Well it uses a "little energy". These modes are only used when the system power is "ON" and the 3DS is in sleep mode [when the 3DS is closed]. What features will be included with the 3DS? - You can see 3D images without glasses on the top screen. The 3D effect can be adjusted by a slider on the side. - A stereographic camera that takes 3D pictures. The two external cameras automatically turn photos into 3D. - New input interfaces: slide pad, motion sensors, and a gyro sensor. - Communication while in sleep mode: The 3DS automatically connects to Wi-Fi spots and Nintendo Zones to download game data, demos, and videos. - StreetPass Mode – Similar to Dragon Quest IX the Nintendo 3DS exchanges data with other 3DS users. This feature works for multiple titles. - DS functions work within games. You can visit the home menu, notification lists, and internet browser while playing a game. - Built-in software: Like the Nintendo DSi, the Nintendo 3DS comes preloaded with apps. You can use the Nintendo 3DS Camera, 3DS Sound, Mii Studio, Spotpass - StreetPass mode Mii Plaza, AR Games. - Introductory videos and rankings can be downloaded from the internet. - Software purchased on a Nintendo DSi and/or Nintendo DSi XL can be transferred to and from a Nintendo 3DS. There is a limit of how many times you can transfer software, but Nintendo has not announced a number. - Backwards compatible with Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi software. - Parental controls can be set for the web browser and what software can be run. - A Mii editor/creation studio will be available for the 3DS and will avaialble to share with other 3DS users and possible "in-game" functions. - 3DS can store data for multiple games at once, and you don’t even have to be playing the game in order for that to happen. That data can be transferred to other 3DS systems wirelessly. - Selecting notifications from a list. - There will be 6 augmented reality games included right out of the box. - A light will be on the upper-right corner of the device, near the R button, and it will show you when another 3DS has passed by you, and that new data has been received. Are there any other things the 3DS features outside of gaming? Yes. The 3DS also supports 3D movie playback. Nintendo is working with and has reportedly have contracts with Dreamworks, Warner Bros, and Disney. Some of the companies had there 3D movies playing on the Nintendo 3DS at E3 2010. Iwata wants the 3DS to be used as a 3D movie player as well. |

What colors have been announced or shown?
There will be only 2 colors to choose from at launch. What other software can the 3DS support?
You can also play Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles on your Nintendo 3DS by using the Virtual Console. These titles can also be saved to the SD card once downloaded. Why did you delete an entire post? If something was wrong, GameFAQs now has an edit post feature... Which, by the way, there a few small grammatical errors which can be fixed. May I suggest a tidier v2.1 without the deleted post? You can't retrieve a post once it has been deleted, so that deleted post will always be there now...

Apparently the 3ds gets about 8 hrs if the 3d is turn off, and a lot more with everything set to the lowest settings and WiFi off.

I've been here for many years and I'm just not used to using the feature. So it wasn't the first thing that came to my mind. I'm sure I'll be updating this FAQ again when more info releases.

Great FAQ, TC, though you fail to mention Europe, who will actually get the system before the US.
Edit: We can edit posts now, so maybe you can change things a little bit as time goes on. Europe's launch is 25 March, with pricing depending on retailers.

Two things, One, Japan is approximately 10-12 hours ahead of the US, depending on your location in the US. Hence, Japan is almost always a day ahead of us. Your import website is taking that into account. It WILL ship (also, notice the word "ship", this is different then receive) on Feb 25th if you're importing. But the US Feb 25th is the Japanese Feb 26th when you consider the time difference. Secondly, why the hell would you believe a third party website with no ties to Nintendo over, gasp, Nintendo? That just doesn't make any sense. The Nintendo 3DS will be released in Japan on Feb 26th, end of story. And no, I'm not posting a link to back this up, I'm already appalled with myself for wasting two minutes of my life on you. If you want proof, try this revolutionary new invention called "google".

^^^ it is me .plus I will add -on to my subject of what your clueless on is this if my 3DS ships from ny at 5 pm and gets to me at 9 am on the 26 and japan is 10 -12 hour ahead of us .HE FORGOT TO time in the 22+ airplane trip from japan .which MEANS MY import supplier GOT THIER ON THE 24 of feb .so once again HOW IS this luanch in japan on 26.if they have thier by the 24 our time .so it LAUNCHED in japan on THE 25 not the 26or even the 23 .you every think of that

Whether an importer, or anyone/place has it early or not does not change the official release date of something. If I had a 3DS to ship to you right this moment, it does not make the release date of the 3DS the 21st of January. Regardless of what you think, the official release date of the 3DS in Japan is February 26th, 2011.
Since you like links and proof so much, here is a link from Nintendo's official japanese website: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/hardware/spec/index.html If you'd so kindly look at the second row of information, it states the release date, which happens to say February 26th 2011. I'm not trying to argue but you said your importer told you NOT to listen to the OFFICIAL Nintendo website?
And if there is a way to get the system early over there then didn't you prove to that YamiYugi guy that he is right? Just because you get something early doesn't change the official release date. For instance a video store gets movies up to a week in advance that doesn't change the official release date.

Yeah I'm clueless enough to take the time and write the FAQ and UPDATE plus I posted some sources. Also it isn't that hard to go to NINTENDO OFFICIAL WEBSITE and look at the info. I normally ignore your post, but thanks for making thing a lot easier for me. I ignored you and another user corrected you....that's your problem now...not mines, so don't even try to smart mouth me. I heard that the 3Ds is region lock.
