They have been completely silent the last couple of months with only announcing the release date of Sea of Thieves. To me they are going into next year way too quiet and should really amp up the hype for Xbox.
But have they done enough to get people excited for Xbox in 2018?

they could have done more, but knowing I am getting state of decay 2 and sea of thieves for console exclusives and a few Japanese 3rd party games like monster hunter I will survive till e3 2018 when hopefully we will see something very shocking like Fable 4(not holding breath)

State of Decay looks like an interesting adaptation of a zombie game unlike Days Gone. Sea of Thieves looks ok but we will see what else they have. Never cared about Crackdown.

Nope. They couldnt even give us a release date for Crackdown 3 after it was delayed in August. I hope it isnt cancelled like Scalebound.

They should do two things:
1- Be more aggressive about the 1X. Games like Battlefront 2 run at twice the resolution of what the Pro is capable of. Assassin's Creed Origin looks like an early next gen title and Wolfenstein 2 is one of the best looking game of the year. The third party support is good but still somewhat bittersweet. Without a barrage of first-party exclusives pushing the hardware to it's absolute limit, no one truly knows what the X is capable of. Which brings me to... #2- Come forward and openly talk about the future prospects. If they are planning on a Fable 4, a new Banjo, a reboot of Perfect Dark, a resurrection of Conker or a sequel to Killer Instinct, they should say it instead of leaving us in the dark. Yes, Xbox has won the multiplat war for the rest of the generation but it feels like the console doesn't have a soul of its own. |

There's nothing I'm excited for coming from Microsoft themselves, but there's plenty of third-party games I can't wait to play, especially since they'll be the best version of said games running on the world's most powerful home console.

I'm not excited for Xbox in general, seeing as I already I own one, but there are some games in 2018 that I'm really looking forward to. Like Sea of thieves, already got some friends willing to form a pirate crew, and State of Decay 2. I loved SoD, I can't wait for the sequel

Sony banking on God of War to be the console seller... sadly with how much replay value the previous games had, I think it would work in the opposite fashion. I will never again pay full price for 8-10 hours of gameplay. Ultra limited edition with a plastic statue, for $150... not interested in that either. To be honest, gaming as a whole, has pretty much tanked since this generation of consoles launched... the only thing keeping them alive, is horrible games like destiny, that get players hooked on repeating menial tasks of grinding, masked as meaningful campaigns and co-op... PVP remains unchanged, and for the most part, the ultimate form of mutual masturbation.
If what I said doesn't makes sense... it's because you don't want it to make sense.

There's no point in MS doing anything substantial, the sales gap is already too large this gen and MS won't even put a dent in it.
Any exclusives they release this gen, will be forgotten, no matter how good they are. I'd much rather have MS save their big guns until this gen is over. Come out strong next-gen with the Xbox Two or whatever and have some killer exclusives and features ready and prepared. |

But sales have been down each year for Xbox One since 2014 2015 had lower sales than 2014, 2016 had lower sales than 2015, and 2017 had lower sales than 2016. Xbox will be in a fragile state to survive the launch of a new gen unless they make some AAA games

Well no, not really, I was hyped for Crackdown but the delay happened, I still have hope but am still scared of seeing a random cancelled headline with all the silence. Sea of Theives is starting to look more interesting but still isn't really my thing.
I'm going in hoping for the best though, It looks like Phil's realling pulling their shit together and I eagerly await the location reveal for Forza H4.

I'm not excited for any of Sony or MS' first-party stuff personally. But I have no doubts that much like every year there will be more games that I want to play then time I'll have to play them.

I'm looking forward to sea of thieves and to a lesser extent crackdown 3 but PS4 will have the majority of attention yet again just too many great exclusives
