Bojangles Coliseum – Charlotte, North Carolina
Friday Night – Go-Home Show Live on CBWL
The lights in the arena cut to black.
A single spotlight hits the center of the empty plywood platform where the ring should be. The crowd is already buzzing — some confused, some already chanting “We Want A Ring!” — when Mariska Hargitay’s music hits.
She steps out from the tunnel wearing a sleek, form-fitting purple strapless dress, her hair down, looking every bit the authoritative figure she’s become. The crowd gives her a solid reaction as she walks down the aisle and steps up onto the plywood. She takes a slow look around the mostly empty structure, then lifts the microphone.
The lights stay low, giving the whole scene a more serious, dramatic feel.
Mariska Hargitay: “Charlotte… thank you for being here tonight.”
She pauses, letting the noise settle.
Mariska Hargitay: “I know a lot of you are frustrated. And I get it. For the second week in a row… we don’t have a ring. Last week we had some issues. This week… more issues. And I know that’s not what you paid to see.”
She looks around the building, her tone shifting from apologetic to more serious.
Mariska Hargitay: “But I want to talk about something more important than just a ring tonight. I want to talk about hardworking men. Men who show up every day, do their jobs, and try to provide for the people who depend on them. Men who get knocked down, get told they’re not good enough, and still keep trying anyway.”
Her expression hardens slightly.
Mariska Hargitay: “One of those men… is Sterling Marlin. A lot of you have been asking about him. A lot of you have been wondering where he is and what’s going on. And I want you all to know something — Sterling is still very much a part of this company. He’s still very much a part of what we’re trying to build here.”
Mariska pauses, letting the crowd react before continuing.
Mariska Hargitay: “The reason Sterling isn’t out here with us tonight… is because he’s still recovering from what happened to him. Some of you may have heard rumors. Some of you may have seen the reports. But the truth is, Sterling was involved in a very serious situation. He was hurt badly — badly enough that he’s still under medical care. He’s been through surgeries, he’s dealing with significant injuries, and right now, his body simply isn’t in any condition to be here, let alone doing the job he’s always done for this company.”
She looks out at the crowd, her tone steady but heavy.
Mariska Hargitay: “Sterling wants to be here. He’s told people that. He wants to be out there doing what he’s always done — driving that truck, making sure this show runs the way it’s supposed to. But sometimes, no matter how much heart a man has, his body just won’t let him do the job. And that’s where we are right now.”
She takes a breath, then continues.
Mariska Hargitay: “In honor of Sterling… and everything he’s been through… I want to let you know that at Sunday’s PPV, there will be a major announcement regarding the future of CBWL. An announcement that I believe will directly involve where we go from here… and what role Sterling will play moving forward.”
The crowd reacts with a mix of noise and speculation.
Mariska Hargitay: “We’re not forgetting about the people who helped build this place. And we’re not going to let them be forgotten.”
She lowers the mic slightly, her expression firm.
Mariska Hargitay: “Now let’s have a show.”
Her music hits again as she walks off, the crowd buzzing after her comments about Sterling’s condition and the upcoming announcement.
