The DS has 2. FF3 and FF4. GBA had 1 through 6 minus 3, the Wii had VC ports. (I believe).
3ds has zero. When the 3ds came out it was a given that a remake of FF7 was going to be released. I am still waiting. Japan got remakes of the Legend games for the DS those would have sold well in NA. The FF7 remake would be the perfect last big game for the system. |

Poor Gamecube :( Gamecube had Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, which in my eyes is a top tier JRPG. The sequel Baten Kaitos Origins isn't too shabby either.

We got the two Bravely Default games, which are FF in all but name.
Given the last few FF games, I'd say we got the best of that bargain anyway. (Gamecube also had Tales of Symphonia and the Skies of Arcadia enhanced port, BTW. That's just off the top of my head)

I don't care for FF after FFX tbh. I haven't actually beat any FF named game.
So it's not a big loss imo. They should've done FFV or FFVI, but I guess they want to revisit those later on a larger scale. If I was Squeenix, I'd wait after getting FF7 out on the market, as to evaluate the current interest for fully-fledged remake.

Final Fantasy I got a 3DS version released in Japan... I see it on the eShop.

So why hasn't FF1 been ported to NA? They already translated it. Most likely because their executives decided it wouldn't be financially worthwhile. They would have to submit it for an ESRB rating, which costs money (each new release of a game requires this, even if just a port from a previous platform, as the rating is per platform), plus whatever fees Nintendo has for listing it on the shop. It would have to sell a certain number of copies to break even on those costs, and then more to be profitable. If the game isn't expected to reach a certain level of profit, it isn't worth releasing. Generally the reason every region doesn't get every game is financial as the root cause. They don't just blindly release things, they do a cost/benefit analysis first, and a sales projection. |

We actually got more Dragon Quests instead of Final Fantasy. And y'know what? That's pretty okay by me :). It's not like SE was absent from the 3DS lineup. KH, 2 Bravely games, 3 Dragon Quest games (plllleaaaaase may the we get the 3ds version localized....), Theatrhythm...decent amount of games from one studio. Japan got a few others as always, but we did okay.

Didnt 3ds get ff6 in japan? Vc? The Japanese 3DS eShop has gotten FF1-3 for regular 3DS (and New 3DS, too, of course) and FF4-6 only for New 3DS models. Not sure if JPN 3DS got Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest, but I know JPN Wii U got it. The JPN Wii U eShop has FF1-6 plus Mystic Quest (I have a JPN Wii U, too). As others have said, the JPN 3DS eShop has that FF1. I got that free when I got FF Explorers. |

After the ff4 remake I was hoping there would be a ff6 remake but it's been so long since that I've given up hope. Wish they'd done it on the ds or now the 3ds. I was so hoping for that. I was sure we would be getting 5 and then finally... 6. In 3D with voice acting and cutscenes. Really sad. |
