It would be awesome if like using a Mario amiibo gave everyone a Mario hat or something.  I doubt it will be too big, like actually Mario appearing. I am guessing just a tiny aesthetic change to the Basketball or the players, maybe even the courts.  Still, just that tiny bit of Nintendo feel goes a long way. The game actually looks smooth and good on the Switch still, and you get to play it on the go, so that is cool. I can't judge fairly as I am not a Soccer fan in the least bit, and the one time I played a Fifa game, I thought it was stupid.  The fact is, I was looking into the games like this still, and FIFA 18, despite what EA thinks, is not going to be a must-have on the level of Mario and Zelda this year. Well I'd say NBA 2k gets the most love every year. Its the game that evolves and adds more content each yearly release and actually feels different every time. Especially since they started doing the RPG story with 2k14. Started with just simple choices the first couple years (2k14 and 2k15) and now looks like the basketball version of Xenoverse 2 (Small MMO city with emotes, "mounts", clothing shops and the like). Plus they change the physics and gameplay a lot. Just comparing motion now to what it was a few years ago is night and day. Each team used to have the same motion. Then 2k added Swing, Pace and zone. Then 2k started adding one for each team. Now each team has a couple different unique ones so players move around the court differently based on the team and who is in (The cavs rotate different when Lebron is in vs when he isn't for example). Super in depth and casual players would probably never notice but its there and awesome.  2k is helped along because the development team hires within the community. Most of the lead developers were the people modding the PC game. It would be like if Bethesda hired the best PC modders. The guy who does all of the offense AI literally makes 30+ minute youtube videos on each teams motion.  FIFA is consistent I'll give it that and I do buy it every year because EA does improve on one or two things but its nowhere near what 2k gives you. I'd say their yearly releases focus on changing one or two things about the game. Nothing game changing though. At the end of the day, there are only a half dozen or so ways the 500+ teams play. Digital releases the same time as the other versions, but that requires 25 GB + more for updates, so you will need an SD card.
