- More Proof that the 3DS is on its way out...

It is about to lose yet another one of its big franchises. The new Etrian Odyssey game they are working on (the culmination of 1-5 game) will be the last one on 3DS. Now if only Nintendo will come out and say Super Star Saga is the last M&L on 3DS that's why they are doing a remake.
https://gonintendo.com/stories/289320-new-etrian-odyssey-game-currently-in-development-last-game-with What's funny is that a lot of fans claimed the ability to draw on the bottom screen was the best part and the series wouldn't work going forward without it. 3DS has lost a ton of franchises since the switch kicked off: - Fire Emblem series - Etrian Odyssey - Main line pokemon - Senran Kagura - Monster Hunter? - Inazuma Eleven - Level-5 is looking at how to put Prof Layton on Switch - That new Inti-Creates game was going to be a 3DS game but is on Switch instead - Gungho is looking to bring games to Switch INCLUDING Puzzle and Dragons. A series they said they planned for 3DS since its conception.

I expect DQXI to be the last game I buy for my 3DS should we get the game in the next year and a half since it was confirmed and it would suck for the 3DS version to not come since it looks great and going old school in the game will be a lot of fun for me.

How did the Switch "kick off" a franchise that the EO developers have yet to acknowledge at all? Sounds like putting words into other people's mouths where it isn't there. Monster Hunter is perhaps the franchise that "kicked off" the Switch, not the other way around. Because World is on every major platform except Switch - PS4, Xbox, and PC. Only MonHun game on Switch is... an unlocalized port of a 3DS game. Wow, the Switch sure "kicked off" Monster Hunter good! And you've already admitted that Senran games have f***ed off to the PS4 a long time ago. And next FE and Pokemon releases (which aren't vaporware) are going to be on the 3DS. So you're mostly just making s*** up or using vaporware as evidence for the Switch "kicking off" games from the 3DS. Perhaps once those games actually show up on the Switch it'll be true, but as they are now it could be any number of years before that's the case. I mean, you could've tried with something which has an actual trailer, like SMT V - except that the next title (SJR) is still being released on the 3DS. Go post on a Sony board about how the Switch "kicked off" Disgaea because it has a port of D5! You'll get a bunch of laughs there. Or the actual Switch board if you want to make s*** up about how the 3DS is doomed because the Switch has a bunch of announced titles with nothing shown.

Yes because it totally makes sense to take out the most beloved feature for s***s and giggles unless of course you are going to a new system that lacks a bottom screen for the main entry. This game does not sound like Etrian Odyssey 6. Seems like a 10th anniversary sendoff title and they already said there will be no more numbered titles on 3DS after 5 back in March apparently.

I'm just curious, but what's the point of posting stuff like this? People can read the news and formulate their own assessment I'm sure. Even it is ending soon, is there really any benefit to trumpeting around "proof" that something many people enjoy may be near the end of its life cycle? It is what it is either way.

It likely doesn't(2018 I would expect to be the last major year of support. 2019 will see some stragglers, late localization and niche games probably though) but systems losing exclusives and franchises is extremely common and to pretend otherwise is flat out crazy.

For me a system goes "Out" when I stop having fun with it. And with all the fun games I have on my 3DS, it's not going out anytime soon.

It's silly to think a game console is going to last forever. 3DS is getting much less support than it had in it's prime (2013 and 2014, IMO) and even less is expected for the console next year.
It's a great console and I'll still be playing it for years to come. I can still do that and except that it's nearing it's end. I did that with both the DS and GBA. GenerationX-Men posted... For me a system goes "Out" when I stop having fun with it. And with all the fun games I have on my 3DS, it's not going out anytime soon. More power to you, buddy. To me, the Dreamcast is still alive and kicking.
