This is literally THE END. Last nail. Done. No more. It's over. Game Over. Just a daily reminder: up to -57% confirmed/proven performance loss in enterprise, especially MySQL. Xeon is a LITERAL toxic product and investment now. And Intel is truly afraid of Zen now. Afraid so much that they result to such dirty "tactics". It won't work anymore, though. Everyone opened their eyes.

So they're enforcing gag order on companies not to reveal before/after performance comparisons? Not only companies/businesses, but also hardware reviewing outlets/resources/channels. But it's too late, since such truly professional sites as Phoronix already shown us all the ugly truth a couple months ago, so enforcing a gag RIGHT NOW is simply pointless, utter failure, because everyone already saw what happened. Inturd tries to somehow downplay this now by gagging media due to the fact even more "fixes" and """""patches""""" are coming out soon, IN ADDITION TO WHAT WAS DONE ALREADY, but it's all an absolutely wasted knee jerk since literally each and every business who have at least some brains and dignity/self-respect left, are already trashing away Xeon GARBAGE hard while moving to THREADRIPPER and EPYC in tons. Xeon was ruling before, indeed. So did dinosaurs. It's all over now. The ice age. The name of this ice age is Zen. Xeon is absolutely toxic waste now, to be steered away from.

I can upgrade to Ryzen when the next gen consoles release. No biggie. Unlike GPU's there is a good alternative for CPU's.

Lolz way too many Intel fanboys around for this to ever happen TC. AMD is already gotten adoption from major players in the server market and there's a new partner announced every day now with Dropbox being the latest. Fanboy's buying an i7 don't put butter on intel's bread, the vast majority of their income is from data center where they'll be losing a lot over the next few years. Intel even stated it plainly in their last investor call that AMD will take 20% and their goal is to cut it off there, but it looks like AMD will be taking a bit more. No Intel is not "finished" but AMD is going to be making money hand over fits from selling CPU's that cost several thousand a pop all with the cheap ass zen core in your average Ryzen 3 processor. Money that can be put into R & D to make even better products. One thing is for sure, between the security exploits piling up by the day and the large performance degradation Intel is looking like a terrible option for the foreseeable future to anyone who is expanding or not under contract. The whole Intel gaming superiority was coming to a fast end anyway.
It's not the end of the world, but we can see it from here.

Intel's CPU line is crap because of the flaw in the chip? It's waaay more than just that. Intel was massively screwing up on each and every step for almost the entirety of the last 2 past years, starting shooting itself in the leg almost immediately after first models of gen1 Zen were released and turned out to be absolute success. It's K6~K8 moment all over again. Intel is in complete panic and absolute disarray right now.

I'm pretty sure the 9900k will be the best choice for games and emulation still, even when AMD releases some fucking 12 core 24 thread ryzen beast next year The 9900K has to hold it down for TWO YEARS through two releases of 7nm Zen. Ain't happening. Intel's 10nm won't see desktop until 2020. Do you think the rehashed 14nm++++++ will clock to 6ghz in the meantime?

Until corporate switches, Intel will do quite nicely. Apple uses Intel (would be better if they used Ryzen). There may be some tasks that a Intel processor is better at. There are also many companies that has a Intel policy with probably using HP or Dell computers. The company I works for only allowed me to have a HP workstation with a Xeon processor for instance. I have mentioned that my Ryzen built home PC is faster.
Remember, it's only a game, have fun and enjoy.

Despite all the threatening by Intel and the pressure, they didn't give in and actually gone and did it - http://images2.imagebam.com/94/94/ea/e80fb4954382384.jpg, the absolute madmen! Wow. Just...WOOOOOW. I've said previously that Intel was in full panic and total disarray, huh...turned out that was a HUEG underestimation, a downright COMPLIMENT, rather. Everything is WAAAY WORSE than I've imagined personally. The testing results which you can see in the pic above are just a tiny sliver of much larger and uglier things to come soon. Some of the yet-to-be-disclosed cases show performance drops of up to -72% (SEVENTY-TWO PERCENT)!!!11 That sends absolute majority of """""modern""""" Intel poocessors straight to mid-2005 or even further back!

Does this have to do with that security hole a few months ago? No, this is BEYOND Meltdown and Spectre 1/2. These are a set of NEW, FRESH """""mitigations""""" for NEW, FRESHLY FOUND 10+ (MORE THAN TEN!!!11) different security holes in Intel's GARBAGE they call "processors". Meltdown and Spectre """""fixes""""" alone by themselves already cut Xeon's enterprise/server performance up to -57%, so each and every diminishing of performance from here on is an ADDITION to that, a STACKING upon those aforementioned -57%. Absolute disaster, utter horrendous TRAIN WRECK all the way. Rexdragon125 posted... Has anyone ever confirmed whether AMD is vulnerable? They're not, so far. Meltdown absolutely can't affect Zen due to very MCM/CCX structure, while Spectre 1 was patched via simple OS/motherboard BIOS update and Spectre 2 cannot affect Zen due to SEV. It seems like no one actually gives enough of a shit about them to test. It's not about "caring or not", it's simply because Zen is friggin' PURRFECT, absolutely FLAWLESS.

So is this going to affect consumer's home computer or just business? This affects ALL Intel poocessors and processors released so far all the way down to Core 2. Game performance drops from Meltdown/Spectre patching was in a 2~12% window depending on DirectX version game used (~0.5% if Vulkan or Mantle), but this isn't about games, rather than about overall productivity. Even if this won't affect gaming drastically, this WILL affect any prosumer and small business that operates from home (by either building a small home server or hosting a streaming station, or etc). Many people in the past preferred to buy cheap Xeons with many low-clocked cores instead of standard consumer/mainstream/enthusiast offerings...until Zen and THREADRIPPER came, that is. Now ALL of those Xeon stations are LITERALLY going to turn themselves into pumpkins. The fairy tale is over. And the only way how you can escape this if you're a devote Intel product user, is if you COMPLETELY ignore any and all """""patches/fixes/mitigations""""" Intel provides now. Sure, you can do that...but your processor will be ridden with security holes like a true Swiss cheese, in such of a case. And it doesn't matter if a business is a small venture operated from home, or if it's medium sized, or a large-scale corporation - NO ONE likes to have an insecure, hole-ridden piece of hardware on their hands. Hence why AMD's stock jumped to 22+ per share today, while Intel keeps on thumbing down hard for several weeks now. It's an absolutely disastrous train wreck. All the "better game performance in comparison to AMD" Intel was boasting with for so many years, was mainly BECAUSE of the said security holes, which ALLOWED for Intel's CPoos to "clock much higher and perform better in single core" tasks. Now it's all going down the drain.
