Wipeout, easy answer. shitloads of content, its fun as hell, preeeeetty good OST, massive amounts of unlockables, 3 games in 1, and its getting a full game VR patch soon.

There is a single player but it's bare bones and they're barely adding to it with each update. Get Project Cars 2 if you want something with real cars and lots of options. Burnout Paradise or Wipeout or Rocket League if you want some casual fun

Both Gran Turismo Sport and Project CARS 2 are great racing simulators. Project CARS 2 has a nice plethora of content ranging from multiple disciplines of cars (F1, GT3, LMP, Karts, Rally) and ton load of tracks. Also the customization you can do with day and night cycle as well as weather is nice.
GT Sport might lack the content but it does make up with elegance and refinement. Visually it's beautiful and car models seem to be copy and pasted from real life. It's that good. Even watching replays never looked so damn realistic. To me it made Project CARS feel outdated when it comes to visuals. Even the audio in GT sounds superior and authentic. |

Car models in GTSport. Check out any wheel arch and you'll see it's not a smooth curve, and plenty of in-game decals (not ones that people made) are overly pixelated when you get close. On 1080 so I know it's not just my 720 TV.
They do look better than PCars2 but it's not enough to matter to me. Especially when you're inside the car anyway and can't see the outside. You can see your opponents' cars but only for so long since you're busy looking ahead trying to pass.

Do you want wild and crazy arcade racing, or a precision sim racer? That's really an important distinction.
I play games, not count frames. Just make the games fun to play again, like they used to be in previous gens.

Sad F1 never gets mentioned in such topics.
Most games mentioned are good and should play if fan of genre but F1 never gets love and the new one is not just good but sweat inducing intensity lol. Amazing sim and deep options to make it essentially arcade like if want and most importantly the AI likes to push your limits

Driveclub + season pass combo on the PS store. That's the best racer you'll get on the PS4. Lots of offline content too. Also make sure to download many morr free content for it.

burnout and NFS rivals are so lacking compared to PS3'S NFS Hot Pursuit. there's no reason mentioning them, cuz HP is literally the best racing game of all time

eh, i could care less if the game is inferior.
i dont recommend on spec. i recommend on level of enjoyment attained and im also not sandbagging any of the other mentions. if TC or anyone else wants 1 and only 1 racing title thats on them. idve recommended burnout paradise too, but ive got this thing about redundancy for the sake of redundancy. own em all, play em all. what id really like? another midnight club, blur, splitsecond, excitebots/truck, motorstorm, or road rash.
