Forza has been reduced to prize crates, customizable driver outfits and a "yeah dude, lets drink a monster energy and race lamborghinis on the beach" with forza horizon.
If youve played one forza, youve played them all. Familiar physics, tracks and car rosters. Gt sport tried to go in a different direction but what we got was the smallest car roster to date and a game that felt incomplete and lacked so much content when compared to past games; despite being in development for like 10 years. Dirt 4, dirt rally and project cars 2 were fantastic but they didnt sell well and i doubt there will be sequels. So what happens next? Will gran turismo ever redeem itself back to the days of GT4? Will a new franchise come along and save racing games? Will forza focus on the main series instead of on horizon? ARE RACING GAMES DOOMED?!?

Forza is pretty amazing and I don't know how much better you're going to get as far as that type of a racing game gets. Absolutely blows GT:S out of the water. Forza 5 was straight asshole water though.

No matter what settings, it plays too much just like 6. The car roster features too many cars that dont belong in this type of racing game (honda odyssey minivan, a limousine and several trucks and SUVs)

Forza Horizon 4 comes out this year though and the Horizon series is always good imo. It's a shame what happened to Gran Turismo though, I haven't liked a GT game since GT5 in 2010, which oddly enough was the last year a good Need for Speed game came out imo.

That's one of the most ignorant statements I've seen today, based all on opinion and not fact. If you are going to make a topic with such a strong statement, at least have the decency to post some sort of proof as to why they are, in fact, going extinct.

Forza horizon is top notch, and each game keeps getting better and better. Dirt is also great.

Onrush is by far best thing to happen to racing games this gen. That game is absolutely amazing, easily one of the best arcade racers ive ever played
As for sims, gt sport has some incredible gamplay, presentation, features, music and a pretty decent amount of content now so its definitely one to play. The problem is as with many games theyre giving the sp the afterthought finger. They added the sp content but the ai is basically set to very very VERY easy and theres no difficulty settings. So yeah the sp isnt the most exciting thing to play atm and it doesnt seem like theyre going to change that |

Forza Motorsport 7 is amazing and Forza Horizon keeps getting better and better. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I prefer Mario Kart or Twisted Metal. All other racing game tend to suck.

They’re not going extinct. They’re just not of the overall and widespread quality as they used to be. And we used to have very clear distinctions between arcade and sim. Now everything wants to be simcade and it’s hurting our selection.

Most genres are stagnant or going downhill this gen. All the fun (arcade) racing series are dead. Burnout Revenge was the last good Burnout. Juiced 2, Ridge Racer. There were a few other arcade racers on 360. This gen it's only bullshit sim games. I find it extremely hard to believe that bullshit like the F1 games could possibly outsell the likes of Burnout and Ridge Racer. Yet, there's a fuckton of those bullshit games and only a few Burnouts and Ridge Racers.
Rail Shooters will never be the same until we can truly play them with simply a gun and TV. I tried that Move shit, Wii etc. None of it is the same. None of it works as good. I can't stand all this gimmicky shit. Sports games, even wrestling, have become pure sim shit and NOT fun to non-sports fans. I played Midway's sports games on N64 because they were FUN. Put the goalie through the net, dunk from half court. The wrestling games were far superior. Now it's all pretty graphics and shit gameplay.
Xbox One dis-Kinected 6/9/14. Let that be a lesson to people. Vote with your wallet.

Just curious, how do you guys feel about racing games that have more emphasis on tuning? I really want a new TXR/Wangan Midnight game on a console. Initial D talks about tuning quit a lot but usually ends up on skills and track knowledge. Oddly enough I enjoyed NfS2015 "tuning".
It's not about whether or not I can afford a DLC, it's the integrety behind it and does it do favor to the community to support it?
