most only have xbox, so not like they game elsewhere either.. they're just more into movies now i guess. though fair enough many are/getting married.. so that probably helps/hurts.

I usually just leave my console on Netflix, Hulu,etc... when I'm not playing anything and here lately I'm playing a lot of PUBG on PC when I'm playing anything. My Xbox is usually a media machine between big game launches that I'm interested in.

That what's makes the Xbox one so great. You can seamlessly swap in between watching things and playing games. As soon as my tv is on my Xbox is ready to go.

I only game at night when my kids are asleep, I use Netflix alot during times I dont game. Not only that but sometimes people just don't feel like playing something, so they kick back and use the media features.
Plus people have children and Netflix has a ton of stuff available for kids, so some it may be for those reasons. There are a ton of different variables as to why you see this. People enjoy other things besides gaming and with these consoles able to do all of that, it makes it easier to do. Me and my wife have been spending a lot of time watching new shows and stuff like that too. Plus its summertime and not a lot of new games come out around now.

I have 8 friends online and 7 of them are watching TV, Netflix or Hulu. The other is playing Rocket League. It's not necessarily the norm to see no one gaming but certain times of certain days this happens a lot.

I can't really say that's true tbh, but I do notice a fair amount on Netflix/YouTube/Twitch often enough.
I do the same thing, though. I dropped cable, so if I want to watch TV, my Xbox and one of those apps is my ticket. Considering how often people have their TV on, it shouldn't be too surprising that someone likely shoved something on while they do things.

Most of my gamer friends have kids, who use their console for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Isn't it awesome that xbox one can be used to play games AND media like Netflix? Part of the reason I bought it. I can use it for multiple purposes.

Only time I watch cable these days, is when my family turns it on, and I can't use my Xbox. I watch a ton of YouTube, just because I have choice over what I can watch, and it's infinitely more entertaining, imo. I also spend anywhere between 10-25 hours a week on gaming. Depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

My Xbox is in Netflix or One Guide when I'm not playing a game, so it's going to show the vast majority of my time there. Netflix is the new console off/change the input to cable.

Meh... I mostly just game or use Hulu on mine. I occasionally use Netflix (I gave my account to my brother since I stopped using it for the most part.), CW Seed (since Hulu TV doesn't have it), Amazon, and WWE Network as well.

It's too much hassle getting everyone to do one thing at the same time, I'll have spent 3-4 hrs on Gears and take a break right when someone else gets on and wants to play..

My Xbox spends more time as a Blu-ray player these days. Just nothing really interesting to play on it.
Pretty sure it's the same with PS4 owners too. Summer is ironically the time when gaming droughts most occur.

If you preferred JRPGs, the PS1 was way better. Potentially, single player games were better. However, I would say the 360 was the best console for online gaming (PC isn't console) by far and allowed us to play even the old classic games like Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 3, Doom, Duke Nukem online easily against other players and that was so fun.
Of course, Halo, Gears of War, Borderlands were also great for online multiplayer competitive and coop both. The PS1 can not even begin to compare to the 360 when it comes to multiplayer and those are the last 2 consoles I owned so I know.
