I just put a 512gb Samsung EVO in the PC to upgrade that.

Other than that, the only thing I wanna upgrade is the PSU and the 1070 to a 1080.

What will a 1070 give me at 1440 ultra and 4K vs a 1080
And a ti.

Also what monitor should I get? Right now I have my eyes on the dell 2417DG. Reviews and word of mouth are great on this one.

If I move to a 1080 or a ti is that still a good monitor to use?

Thanks guys!

You can game at 1080p 60 FPS with that 1070. I really wouldn't push for a 1080 as it's not a huge upgrade or worth the extra money. If you're wanting to get 4K, I would wait to invest into the next line of GPUs honestly because that 1070 is still a great card.

As far as that monitor goes, it seems to get good reviews. It only pushes 1440p. So if you're getting that, just stick with the 1070 anyways. I'm gaming at 1440p with most games at 60 FPS.

Honestly 1080ti or don't waste your time. Why bother with marginal improvement when you are moving that kinda money and using your time as well. I've seen the 1080ti for as little as 650. No reason to bother with the middle ground at 400-500 anymore.

If you got a pre-built you want to change the PSU for sure. EVGA all the way.

The 1080 was for the folks back in 2016 who didn't want to settle with 1070 before a Ti version was available, just like all the previous generations of GPU. Now you don't need one anymore and should jump straight to the top.

Definitely the first step. PSU is already underpowered as is but can apparently hold a 1080. Upgrading PSU right away and will see what fits in there GPU wise.

Pretty noob at this, are there versions of the TI that are the same size as the 1070 and 1080? If so then I'll have no problem popping one in and selling the 1070 on a BST.

Kk already listed the 1070 on BST, will upgrade PSU tmrw so I'm ready to buy ti whenever the 1070 sells. If it doesn't sell I'll stay with the 1070.

How does you buying a prebuilt with hardware you didn't even want equate to thinking outside the box? What, you want to spend even more money by buying hardware you're not even going to use? Hell, you probably didn't even get a good deal on it considering the inflated GPU prices right now.

I can get 4k on my GTX 750Ti... I don't really think most people understand where to make trade-offs in their settings.

Skyrim 4k... Sure I don't have all settings maxed, but at 4K, you don't need Anti-aliasing at all. So thats like 40% recovery of your hardware power. Shadows on 4K should always be ULTRA... don't skimp on shadows. Everything else can be skimped. DOF, Draw distance for Grass, and water, and ULTRA REFLECTIONS... You never Need ULTRA reflections.

But yeah... Skyrim in 4K... I can run Fallout 4 in 4K by making the same tweaks. Pretty much every game out, if I can deal with 30fps, and a few things gimped, 4K is easily the best option, since I can ditch all the anti-aliasing.
If what I said doesn't makes sense... it's because you don't want it to make sense.

I want a 1070 since I could afford to SLI it compared to something like a 1080. Only gaming at 1080p, but think of it as sort of future proofing.

Well if he sells the 1070 for brand "new" pricing that's at best $500. 1080Ti is $700-$800 which is a $200-$300 difference plus a power supply for $80. There's almost $400 he is adding to the cost he already spent on the prebuild. And that's best case scenario, add in the time to switch out a powersupply and other parts.

He still would have been better off getting what he wanted to begin with. I understand buying a cheap prebuild with nothing in it and upgrading it as you go but not completely rebuilding it as soon as you purchase it. 9/10 times is not efficient, let alone the hassle of reselling parts.
