It's probably nowhere near the worst, but I still remember being genuinely pissed about the horse armour thing. There were half assed mods that were better. What a different era we live in.
Geforce GTX whatever, i7 something or rather, some sticks of ram, an SSD and a Hard Drive with stuff on it.

I think from what I recall they were planning on doing a full-on sequel to continue the story, but the game didn't sell well enough for that to happen. Thus, the compromise was they'd make a DLC that gave it a proper ending instead of it forever having a never-resolved cliffhanger. And if that's the case, then I'm okay with how it was handled, as it beats the alternative. Of course, it's been so long that I can't remember if that's what really happened or if it was purely my conjecture, sooo yeah. Take that as you will. >.>

Now, a more apt example would be the Prince of Persia (2nd) reboot. That game ended on a pretty major cliffhanger, and Ubisoft gave it an ending via DLC. Except, that DLC ending ALSO ended on its own cliffhanger (arguably even worse than the original), and never got a sequel to resolve it so it still remains a cliffhanger to this day.

I used to play a lot of SWTOR. I check in on how the game is doing from time to time. They're currently selling lightsabers that look like Kylo Ren's for around $60.

Any P2W option would be worse. The lightsabers are pure aesthetic. I just think it's insane.

Yeah, the game came with 40. There was only 12 DLC characters (not including Sony exclusive).

Still a very scummy thing, but not as scummy as you made it out to be.

A few come to mind. Call of duty MWR. Those Mao packs should have been included. Dead space 3. The actual ending in dlc. That whole evolve crap. Over a hundred dollars of day one dlc. Anything to do with crypto keys or cod points on black ops 3. They said they would not allow people to pay real money for them. Then they said they would only contain cosmetic stuff. They went back on both those things within 2 months of their launch. I'm still incredibly salty about that.

HOLD YOUR FIRE! I'm a human!
There's been so many examples it's hard to pick one.

I'd say most DLC coming out of Japan is overpriced, pulled-from-the-game bullshit, but Activision gets a special mention for Destiny and COD as well.

DLC was actually a great idea until companies figured out how they could abuse it.

I keep saying this, but any sort of item that requires you to buy a random item/loot box for a shot at it. Put a price tag on it devs, don't make getting what you want gambling, that is just sleazy and needlessly milking your customers.
tamashii 1 day ago#24
Battleborn. Expensive-ass cosmetics, random loot packs, and you have to buy in-game currency in preset quantities which never comes out to the total you need, you'll always have a little bit extra just sitting there.

I wouldn't say complain, but he's incredibly defensive of certain practices within the industry, DLC being one of them.

I don't dislike all DLC, but I do take issue with how certain DLCs are handled. Regardless of what I could possibly take issue with, you can be sure that this guy will pop in with the same old tired rhetoric.

Anyway, I wouldn't called it scumbag DLC, but I hate the way For Honor was handled.

I paid full retail price for what I assumed to be a triple A title, after playing for a short period, it became clear that the game was structured with a free-to-play model.

A ridiculously slow grind to unlock anything of substance for any of the heroes coupled with a another slow system of earning in-game currency to unlock the overpriced cosmetics for those characters.

Example - Effect costs 5k steel. Has to be purchased for each individual hero. Also has to be purchased three times to use it an all three animations, equalling 15k steel.

That's pretty disgusting to me.

Oh, and unlocking everything in the game for the base cast would have taken over 2 & 1/2 years of consistently playing to earn enough income and rank with each hero. Ubisoft's excuse for it was pitiful too.

Love the game, hate the way the MTs were done. One redeeming factor was that the DLC heroes could be bought for in-game currency.

What's "tired" is the endless GF whining which usually amounts to, "Woah, shit I want ain't free, WTH?", an attitude which has no basis in economic reality. And then when someone is a voice of reason in this sea of ignorance, they get attacked.

I think DOA5 Last Round has gone overboard with the DLC. Most of it is cosmetic, and there's like $600 or $700 worth of it. That being said, I don't think "scumbaggy" is the right word to use. When I think scumbag I think of like a deceptive person or someone trying to get one over on me.

Like the earlier example in this thread where a company says they charge fees for paying by credit card but that's the only form of payment they accept. Kind of a dick move. DLC doesn't rise to that level for me because you know up front what you're getting for your money. I think the DOA DLC is a horrible deal but I know that before I spend anything so I just don't buy it. I'd say a lot of DLC is laughable, but I can't really think of one I'd call scumbaggy.
You look EXTREMELY immature when you announce that you're about to ignore someone. No one cares, including the person about to be ignored. Just FYI.

This one is pretty scummy. Along with needing to buy the new game to play the remaster up until a week or so ago, making the players pay for the DLC again was super scummy.

Most remasters are the GOTY or Ultimate editions. Paying for 10 year old DLC again was super scummy.

Regardless of a person's reasoning for disliking a particular type of DLC or microtransaction, you pop in with the same tired rhetoric and blast them for their opinions.

There are indeed entitled people on this board, not disputing that and it's rather clear when people are acting that way. You however take umbrage to any form of criticism thrown towards DLC or MTs, regardless of the reasoning behind it.

I wouldn't deem you a shill or a complainer, I don't even have an issue with you as you seem fairly reasonable in other threads but when touching on these particular subjects you're not open to opinions and more often than not, yours is the only one that matters.
