They will take everyone's money and not actually invest it into the game.

That's a wonderful assertion with no evidence, or even logical sense, to back it up.

These are the people that made Tera. If they didn't give up on that game, they aren't going to give up on the most popular game available right now.

Also, they have micro-transactions to implement and abuse. Tera is proof of their love for those.

Pub feels 99% the same as Dayz. Game engine runs so rough. Why can't someone make a smooth game like this.

Also classic Rust still the best game ever made.

that's the type of slippery slope argument that makes for bad debates.

not even gonna ask what you consider "real updates" other than mention their last patch note was last week which apparently contains a new dungeon and some skill changes/balancing etc.

i don't really expect more from my MMO updates unless the game was a trainwreck to begin with(think launch FF14) so...

They're under no obligation to invest the money into the game after release (which is soon, unlike DayZ) if they don't expect a return on it. I expect nothing more than cosmetics added to the paid loot crates after release, any new content would be a bonus.

That money goes into perhaps oh I don't know, their next project? Maybe just new holiday homes and live the rest of their lives in comfort doing s*** all until they die? Unless you're a shareholder, who the f*** cares what they do with the money people gave them for a product they've delivered.

Constant updates to a released game is not a right to consumers so long as the game functions close to as advertised. Like s***, man, Left 4 Dead 2 hasn't gotten an update in f***in' years, f***ing Valve running off with my money n' s*** after releasing a fun ass game that gave me weeks of fun nights.

PUBG early access started in 2017. DayZ standalone has been in early access since 2013.

End of the day, PUBG has already succeeded in delivering what was promised assuming they stick to their Q4 2017 release schedule, which looks likely. If we're having this conversation in 4 years time then f***ing right we can all concede they've done a dodger but until then...

I'm expecting less frequent updates when it releases, but I don't see the game lasting too long if it drops support.

I think it's a great game to continually update because it's so sandboxy in nature. They could add new maps with twists, new weapons/vehicles, new events (like airdrop but something else), have seasonal events (snow for Christmas + Christmas themed lootboxes).

I'll be surprised if the game doesn't go this route since it's so popular

It's probably staying; it just needs a good competitor. The game is in a rough state right now, but I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth.

The game is already set to be finalized before the end of the year. Day Z will never be finished. Day Z sold like 1 million plus copies shortly after release and Bohemia took the money and ran, and snuckered all their customers. I hope no body buys anything from Dean Hall ever again seriously f*** that guy.

PUBG has already sold 10 million plus copies and has release since sizable updates since March. It should be in final form before the end of 2017. Question is if people will keep playing it for years to come.

I could see the argument for "it's another DayZ story" if they were approximately on equal levels, but the difference being PUBG is already bigger than DayZ...

yeah i've already sold $60 worth of items, for a $30 game i'd say -$30 and 100 hours to date is pretty good.

I was more talking that time before they started updating again, where all they did was pump out MTX skins and later EXP Festivals

I don't see how. Bluehole was talking about making console versions of the game and already has set up a deal with Microsoft.
The game is a huge success. Many other developers are already cooking up clones of pubg. The original pubg might fade over time, but the very idea of it will live on till the next big thing happens.
What you see here is minecraft level of success.
You might go away from pubg, tc. But, pubg will always be there to greet you when you come back.
Now, say my name.

Isn't PUBG releasing at the end of this year and isn't Microsoft backing this game up as well? I don't see this game dying or going anywhere, I'm sure it will have a steady playerbase for years to come if they keep updating and releasing no contents for this game, the game is still fun and a blast to play.

The hate towards this game is ridiculous. Why are so many gamers so pathetic?

For the record I don't own and have never played PUBG.

Purple gear. I've been lucky to get 3 purple jackets and 2 purple pants. Sold the pants for $15 each and the jackets for $10 each I think. I know the pants have fallen in worth but both are still around $10 iirc. Then I've sold at least $10 worth of the junk items, $0.25-0.50 at a time.

Seriously. I don't own the game either but I can't help but recognize it as a huge success that achieved what others did not, not even Day-z. When PUBG was first released I assumed it would be just another "The Culling" that would come and go but that is clearly not the case. It's been out half a year and it's been gaining player population this entire time. It's completely different from other, similar, games that will have a strong launch full of hype and then quickly die off.

Game has a ton of potential. They will probably drop the ball with it, but if they do capitalize on the massive popularity they have right now, it could be something very special for a very long time. Its way more popular than DayZ ever was by like 10x.

Yeah, this is what I was going to say... Any time someone or something is successful, all the unsuccessful nerds come out of the woodworks to try to tear whatever it is down a notch. (LOL, I said notch, I remember he and Minecraft got copious amounts of hate on these boards).

Kinda weird how they've continued to work on the game despite having run away. I guess that's just how the Czechs are?

Yeah, Dean Hall warning everyone that (and, I quote) "buying early will be a recipe for disappointment" and to wait to purchase the game until later in development was definitely, totally him stealing money straight out of your pocket. For sure.

You consider fog map a major update?
That does nothing to make the game actually better.
They arent investing the money in better servers, more devs to fix the amazing amount of bugs in the game, or to implement QOL features.

Then you are simple
To most it doesnt
They talk about what they are actually working on on the steam page and even on reddit.
It isnt much.
They would much rather invest the money in invitationals where they can make back all the money they spent on it and more off of keys for loot boxes

Not very good at arguing are you (hence your simplicity)
Again, most don't like the fog which is why you can find so many afks at the end of the plane route (even more people quit on it then they do on rain maps).
One new map isn't much (not in the grand scheme of thongs). They aren't fixing the vehicles, desync, hit registration, getting stuck on nothing and being unable to move, loot tables, hill, red zone, and poor servers in general.
All of which goes back to what they would rather invest their money into.
I will say I am glad they are going to add vaulting (even though it will probably be glitch as hell). It is a bit annoying they took away easy crouch jumping though (the only thing that made up for how stiff and sluggish jumping is in the game)
