Just watched the trailer and.....eh the facial animations look like they were ripped from the Dreamcast games....I want this game to be good but I doubt it will live up to expectations
Final Fantasy XV is a terrible game with awful characters

I have my doubts but they're not because of what the game looks like graphically, like you're stating here TC.

I do think the environments are beautiful but I have this bad feeling the game will disappoint.

As massive as the hype behind the game is, it's pretty much guaranteed. Does that mean it's guaranteed to be a bad game? Of course not.

Im 30, so depending on whatever the f*** the cutoff for "milenial" is these days, sure why not?

"Nothing came close to it" in what way? Because it sure as hell wasn't the gameplay.

If it plays too much like the first two, then it's almost guaranteed to flop. Open world games have done a lot of evolving since then. Here's hoping Yu Suzuki recognizes that and adjusts accordingly.

Not on console. Better games were out on pc 5 years before.
I wonder if 'Deus Vult' would still be such a popular phrase in nerdom if they knew there was no 'v' sound in Latin.

I just want conclusion to the Shenmue's story so hype expectations doesn't matter much to me. The fact that it had to be ran through Kickstarter is already sign some corners will be cut.

Yakuza is basically what Shenmue would have evolved into from gameplay point of view and I know they don't have Yakuza money backing Shenmue 3 to make something as good as those games.

I didn't realize Nioh had been in dev hell for so long. That's got to be a record for a positive result after, what, 12-13 years?

No thanks, the game doesn't need waypoints and a world map littered with icons.

On console stupid. Tell me one game that have that kind of graphic back then. None so realistic with an open world.

To be honest......I didnt really like them.
I really really wanted to like them but I couldnt for whatever reason.
I even gave shenmue 2 a second shot on the Xbox.

The game had pretty much all my boxes ticked.
The setting, the VF lite combat, the mini games.......but I kinda felt I was playimg them because 'I was supposed to like them'.

Dont get me wrong Im gonna pick up shenmue 3 regardless. But something is telling me the Yakuza series is more for me......I like a bit of yakuza randomness.
Ive got a feeling shenmue 3 will be all too serious.

I loved those games when they came out, but I'm not going to sit here and say they still hold up today.
Probably, it's a sequel to a game that once set the bar for how stupidly overblown a game's budget could be. How could a Kickstarter game stack up to modern AAA budgets when they've far exceeded its predecessor in that regard?

You do know shenmue 3 never existed outside of story outlines prior to the kickstarter has had very little work done on until the kickstarter success. Also nioh wasn't consistantly worked on for a decade, what actually came out wasn't the same game that was announced for ps2 as it was constantly being put on the backburner while the team did other things. Completely different situation from disasters like aliens colonial marines or duke nukem forever.

Idk why its so hard for ppl to realize that wen someone here in this board makes a comparison to another platform, odds are it'll be in relation to console.. Ijs, this IS a console board.. So ppl with PC as well shouldn't get so offended. We get it already.. master race n such.

When was the series ever NOT a disappointment?
My expectations are very low for this game. Just like the first 2 which hit near rock bottom.
Until the day you beat an SNK boss you can't tell anyone to "git gud".
I don't know why people are so hyped. Yakuza's been here all along.

Yup, looks like absolute trash in the latest trailer. Can't believe how bad it looks.

I feel like a real sucker for supporting it on Kickstarter. I'm looking into getting my money back.

Kickscammer. Never again. Old man Suzuki is a shell of his former self.

Well not every game should be played by people that can't grasp they are playing an old game. Holding a game from 20 years ago to today's standards is silly. If you're going to retro game then do so with the correct mentality.
It's geeks who really make or break a TV show or movie or videogame.
I'm sure it will be to someone. The hype around it has exceeded what 99% of games are actually capable of rising to, no matter how good they are. When people have wanted a game for this long and then it finally gets announced there's almost nowhere for it go but downhill unfortunately. I'm not even saying it'll be a bad game but a lot of people have built it up in their heads so much that there's no way they'll be satisfied no matter what they end up getting in the final product. Same thing is going to happen with the FFVII Remake.
You look EXTREMELY immature when you announce that you're about to ignore someone. No one cares, including the person about to be ignored. Just FYI.

Thing is what Shenmue accomplished back in the day is now a standard for most games, particularly open world. What made it special then is no longer special now, so all we have to really look forward to is a conclusion of the story.

...or just pick up Sleeping Dogs for cheap.

Not massive but disappointment is definitely in the cards.

I feel like a lot is going to be missing from the experience because this game is being made mostly for the sake of closure when what I wanted was the immersive world full of distractions that really made Shenmue engaging.

Odds are you're a Millennial, too. Mind you, "early Millennials" are a bit different than "late Millennials," though, because there's this odd transitional period for some where they have something of a 50-50 split between Millennial traits and Gen-Xer traits. I fall into this group - quick to pick up and adapt technology, but stay away from social media because of various reasons (namely, the remarkable ease-of-use some people have in using to "doxx" people in real life over stupid arguments and the like.)

Personally, I hope it plays just like 1 and 2. If it flops, it flops. I'll be willing to Kickstart Shenmue 4 (assuming Shenmue 3 turns out enjoyable for me) if they need it.

If it doesn't play like the first two, then I at least hope it's enjoyable. I judge a game based upon the whole experience, so it doesn't have to remain the same, but I will admit, I'd prefer if it felt like a long lost sequel that we never knew about, similar to Sonic Mania and The Last Guardian.

Dude you sound just like me. I was born in the early 80s so the social media stuff was just starting to take off when I was in college. Just never got into it. To this day I have no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Don't really feel like I'm missing anything either.
