CBWL 016

 Wrestling Observer Live

Dave Meltzer & Bryan Alvarez June 7, 2026 (Unfiltered)

Bryan Alvarez: This one’s different. It’s not one of the old wrestling posters. It looks more recent — or at least more modern production. Melissa McCarthy standing next to a toilet with someone’s face in the bowl, covered in shit. She’s wearing a messed-up adult diaper. The toilet says “For Huge Shits Only.”

Dave Meltzer: Yeah, this one’s from a few months ago. It was a leaked still from an unaired dark segment they shot during the “Porcelain Reign” tapings back in early 2026. They were testing out some new extreme angles with Melissa McCarthy as this unhinged “Bowl Buster” character.

From what I heard, this wasn’t even supposed to be a full match. It was more of a cinematic, horror-style segment. They had the woman in the toilet (one of their developmental girls) and Melissa doing this over-the-top, almost comedic-but-disgusting reaction. The plan was to use it as a cold open or a vignette to reintroduce Melissa’s character after she’d been off TV for a while.

Bryan: How did it go over internally?

Dave: Mixed. Some of the producers loved how grotesque it was and thought it would get a huge reaction online. Others thought it was too far, even for them. From what I was told, there was a pretty heated argument in the production meeting about whether to air it or not. In the end, they decided to shelf it for now because they were worried it would overshadow everything else they had planned.

Bryan: Was Melissa okay with it?

Dave: She was actually really into it. From what I heard, she pushed for it to be even nastier. She wanted the girl in the toilet to be more visibly struggling and for there to be more mess. The version they shot was already pretty rough, but Melissa apparently wanted to go further. She’s been leaning hard into this unfiltered, chaotic character lately.

Bryan: So this was never meant to be a full match, just a vignette?

Dave: Yeah. They were testing the waters to see if they could bring back that old-school gross-out style but with bigger production value. The fact that it leaked is probably why we’re seeing it now. Someone on the crew clearly thought it was too good (or too fucked up) to stay buried.

Bryan: How do you think something like this would land if they actually aired it?

Dave: It would get a huge reaction — half the audience would be disgusted and half would love it. But it would also make a lot of people ask the same question we’ve been asking: how much further can they really go with this stuff before it stops being shocking and just becomes background noise?

Bryan: Yeah. At this point it feels like they’re running out of ways to top themselves.

Dave: That’s the problem with going this extreme. Eventually you hit a ceiling. And when you do, you either have to pull back… or you keep going until it stops meaning anything.

Bryan Alvarez: This one’s new. Anne Hathaway’s face in a toilet, covered in shit, and Melissa McCarthy standing over her in a dirty diaper. The wall even says “Hathaway takes the biggest loads.”

Dave Meltzer: Yeah, this was from a dark match taping they did back in March. It wasn’t supposed to leak, but someone on the crew sent it out. This was part of a test run for a new “Bathroom Ambush” series they were trying to develop.

They had Anne Hathaway come in for what was pitched to her as a “surprise appearance” and some light comedy spots. From what I heard, she wasn’t fully told how far they were going to take it until she was already there. Once the cameras started rolling and they put her in the toilet setup, it got very real, very fast.

Bryan: How did she react?

Dave: She was not happy. From what multiple people backstage said, she was visibly upset and wanted to leave after the first take. They convinced her to do a couple more, but she was done after that. She left the building without even changing and apparently told her team she’d never work with them again.

Melissa, on the other hand, was fully committed. She was laughing the whole time and even ad-libbed some lines while they were shooting. She’s been really leaning into this unhinged, disgusting character lately and seemed to enjoy pushing Anne as far as they could go.

Bryan: Was this ever meant to air?

Dave: No. This was purely a test shoot. They were trying to see if they could get away with this level of content with a bigger mainstream name like Anne. After she reacted the way she did and the footage leaked, they quietly shelved the whole idea. From what I was told, a lot of the higher-ups were pissed that it got out because it made them look reckless.

Bryan: How has Anne been since?

Dave: She’s been very quiet about it publicly, which makes sense. Privately, from what I’ve heard, she’s been telling people in her circle to stay far away from CBWL. She feels like she was misled about what the appearance actually was.

Melissa, meanwhile, has been posting cryptic stuff online and seems to be enjoying the attention from the leak. She’s been leaning harder into the “I’ll do anything” persona ever since.

Bryan: So even when they bring in bigger names now, it still ends the same way — the celebrity regrets it, and CBWL just keeps moving forward like nothing happened.

Dave: That’s been the pattern for a long time. Some people go in thinking it’s going to be edgy or funny, and then they realize how far these people are actually willing to go. Most of them don’t come back after that.

Bryan: And the ones who do… like Melissa… just end up going deeper.

Dave: Exactly. Once you cross that line with them, it’s very hard to come back from it.
